The Staff Selection Commission, either Grade C or Grade D Stenographer,
carries out general and administrative clerical duties on behalf of the government in its
departments and ministries. In general, the Job Structure and Responsibilities for Grade C or Grade D
Stenographers.
Grade C Stenographer:
- Mostly, the place of work is in the ministries or government offices in Delhi.
- It is superior in pay and responsibility to Grade D.
- Greater participation in policy formulation in comparison to the lower grade and in routine and high administrative works.
D Grade Stenographer:
- More or less in central government offices in the country.
- It may also be seen in state government offices.
- Carries out general clerical and administrative work.
The specific duties that the SSC Stenographers in Grade C and Grade D have to perform are :
- Speech writing – noting down the Speeches of the Senior officials.
- Press briefings – Attending press conferences, making note of the conference details and speech and then helping in making press releases of the same.
- Assisting the Ministers and officers with important governmental proceedings.
- Helping the Public Relation officer with information related to the government stand on various issues.
